Martin Hodgson, Chief Executive

Martin has worked within the YMCA movement for 6 years during which time has developed a wide range of skills in working with children and young people. In 2007 he joined Bridgwater YMCA as Chief Executive and prior to this he was Operations manager and Programmes manager for Fairthorne Manor YMCA.

Being a qualified teacher and having worked in secondary education he feels he has seen both sides of young peoples development. Prior to teaching Martin ran a series of successful outdoor centre in Dorset and Devon and holds degree in Maritime Studies.

His interests in working with young people stem from his late teens when he taught windsurfing and dinghy sailing to young people in the midlands. He describes himself as committed to the Christian ethos of the movement and is passionate about raising the profile of YMCA and its work both locally regionally and internationally.
