Thorncombe House

Wade HouseLocated in the heart of residential Bridgwater in Sydenham, is Thorncombe House. In December 2009, the ownership of Thorncombe House was transferred from Sedgemoor District Council to Bridgwater YMCA. The aim of this transfer was primarily to provide temporary accommodation for the George Williams Court residents whilst their building gets redeveloped.

Following successful receipt of funding from the HCA, we are now in the position that our residents are moving into Thorncombe House on the 8th May 2010, this is likely to be home to those residents for approximately one year. We are currently investigating different opportunities for how the accommodation may best be used following the residents departure in 2011.

This property can house up to 20 young people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Referrals are to be made in the usual way either directly to Bridgwater YMCA or through our partner agencies.

Thorncombe House is currently being refurbished ready for our current George Williams Court residents who are moving in soon. The following are photos of the refurbishment; we shall also post photos of the completed works shortly!
